After graduating from RINDAM, the new batch of BPKEL Rangers are now undergoing intensive training in forest skills. Thirty rangers have been selected for technical training in the vicinity of the Ketambe Research Station where they will be taught forest navigation, survival techniques and identification of flora and fauna. The remaining thirty rangers (a total of 60 successfully passed their basic training with RINDAM) are undergoing on-the-job training in various parts of the Leuser Ecosystem.
These rangers are under the direct supervision of highly experienced BPKEL personnel who have worked in the forests of Leuser for more than 10 years. In mid September the two groups will switch roles and the thirty rangers now doing on-the-job training will undergo technical training - and visa versa.
