World Charter for NatureThis United Nations document signed by most countries in the world.
This milestone commitment for the conservation of biological diversity was signed by Indonesia in Rio de Janeiro in 1990 and lays out a comprehensive set of targets that the signatories should reach in biodiversity conservation.
The Kyoto Protocol sets targets for limiting or mitigating carbondioxide emissions that are generally agreed to be a factor in global climate change. The Protocol has also been ratified by Indonesia. Although reforestation is seen as an important way to sequester (and thus reduce) total carbon emissions, a further development beyond Kyoto is to consider avoided deforestation as a significant way to reduce potential emissions.
